The Northwest Welland Secondary Plan was developed by SGL in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of consultants in order to appropriately accommodate future growth within the City through the development of a land use plan for a new urban area in the northwest corner of Welland. The feasibility of the area was assessed through a series of background reports and studies, which led to the development and evaluation of two different land use options that support new residential uses, a mixed use node and the enhancement of new and existing parks and the natural environment. As part of the implementation of the secondary plan, SGL developed Official Plan policies and Urban Design Guidelines, outlining how growth and development should occur.
